We have two types of services we can provide to people – Discovery and CADDY

Discovery - a voluntary service where people access us because they want to ;
CADDY (crime, alcohol, drugs and disaffection among young people) - linked to the Coventry Youth Offending Team, and young people see a CADDY worker as a legal condition set by the courts.

Our aims
Our aim is to help young people reduce the risks caused to them through using drugs and alcohol. We do not insist that young people stop using drugs and alcohol, because we need to work realistically with young people around their identified needs.

We can see young people wherever they feel comfortable – at home, at Discovery, at school, at GP etc.

Finding about people’s difficulties and what can be done
When we first meet young people, we try to get them to tell us about their difficulties and worries, and think about what things need to happen, to make things better. We draw up a plan (care plan) with them, which will include what their needs are, what things they will do, and what we will do to help. The number of sessions we will work with them can be flexible according to what they need. Appointments are usually weekly, lasting from 1/2 an hour to an hour.

If a young person misses two appointments in a row, and we have not heard from them within this time, we will usually close their case because we will think they no longer want to work with us. Of course people are welcome to return to the service at any point in the future, if they feel they need more help.
