What do we do ?
Our staff work with people experiencing problems and difficulties with their drug use, to help them find positive ways of overcoming its harmful effects on their lives, relationships and health.
We work in close partnership with over 100 GPs, to ensure that people get the professional help and treatment they need, including harm reduction advice, access to substitute prescribing/medication and complementary therapies (e.g. auricular acupuncture, Indian head massage)
We also provide information about healthy eating, benefits etc, access to other services, advocacy, peer group support from other people with the same difficulties, and counselling.
Who do we work with ?
We can work with anyone over the age of 18 years, living in Birmingham, who are using opiates or stimulants, and would be suitable to access treatment in the more stable setting of a GP surgery. We do not ask for a commitment to abstinence from people before we will work with them.
When is the service available ?
Our office in Birmingham is open Monday to Friday 9.00 -5pm. We also see service users in other settings within surgery hours.
Where are we based ?
We have an office in the centre of Birmingham, but our staff mainly work with people from GP surgeries.
How to contact us
People can make direct contact themselves to find out if their GP offers substitute prescribing, or ask their GP to refer them to our service.
